What is an overlander without a good route? Well, probably still an overlander.
One of my favorite parts of Overlanding is getting out, exploring and designing routes for people to go and explore. Here you can find areas I have mapped and marked, some are built routes, others are just areas I love to visit with some camp sites marked, all free of charge.
Included in all is a link to the OnX Folders I have created(I have no affiliation with OnX) as well as a download of the GPX.
All of my rides follow the below Difficulty scale, please adventure responsibly and always carry appropriate tools, spare parts, and recovery gear.
1 - Take your Mom's Nissan Murano, anyone can do this ride
2 - Minimum at least have ATs, factory skids should do fine, at least one recovery point recommended
3 - Minimum 31" ATs + 2 inch Lift, Front and/or Rear recovery point required + Armor recommended
4 - Minimum 33" ATs/MTs + 3 Inch Lift + Armor Required + Front/ Rear recovery point required+ Winch Recommended + Lockers recommended
5 - Fully Embrace the Adventure, 35" MTs + 3 Inch Lift + Armor + Winch + Lockers
I have my maps split into three different categories:
Weekend Ventures are designed with the weekend warrior in mind, rally Friday after work, full day of riding Saturday, something easy to wind the day down on Sunday.
Overland Experiences are longer adventures, often designed to last 3-5 days for a true adventure experience
Region Maps are more focused on mapping out smaller scale trail systems, maybe not long enough to constitute a true multi day "Overland Ride" but will help to show you what there is to explore for a day trip or an overnighter, and marks some good camp sites!
WNC is one of my favorite areas to explore. This route is a ~120 mile about ~60/40 mix of Gravel and Pavement with an exciting finish, perfect for a weekend adventure!
