When I first got into overlanding I did it for two reasons, one I work a desk job and spend WAY too much time behind the screen, it's really good to break away when I can. Two, for the community. I've never been a hugely social person, but I know deep down that community is important and was something sorely missing from my life. Through my adventures and meeting great people I landed in the best overland community in the world, Venture Unknown.
Never in my life have I been so inspired and felt so at home as I have with Venture Unknown, and one of the biggest reasons for me personally is VUs commitment to make the world around them a better place. Through comradery and compassion VU has built an incredible foundation for a wonderful community, and two great non-profits, all three of which I'm very proud to be a part of.
What started as a few friends getting together for a weekend of camping and picking up a few beer cans off the side of an FSR has blossomed into an incredible 501c3 Non-Profit organization with one goal: to be guardians of our outdoor and overland community, guided by the principles of exploration, education, and encouragement.
VUF stands to make a good name for overlanders everywhere through trash clean up, and by partnering with the incredible men and women at the United States Forest Service to improve our public lands for all to enjoy.
Road to Overland is proud to be the official Videographer and Photographer of VUF, leading the charge to promote VUF's events and mission to the masses.
On September 27, 2024 disaster struck the East Coast in the worst possible way. Hurricane Helene dug in at the Florida pan handle and uprooted lives all the way up to Tennessee leaving a lasting mark on the region the likes of which many have never seen before.
Without hesitation Venture Unknown responded to Western North Carolina, one of the hardest hit areas in force. Hundreds of people poured in to help run rescue missions, coordinate resources and distribute goods to those in need becoming a known powerhouse in a desperate time of need.
This resilient effort spun off into the founding of Last Mile Relief, a 501c3 grassroots effort dedicated to leveraging our unique skillset and resources as overlanders to respond to places in times of great need.
I am extremely proud to serve on the board of this great organization helping to build and grow it into something that will save lives and impact communities in the best way possible!
